The discoveries made by three generations of the Leakey family has made an inestimable contribution to our understanding of human origins.

Now you have the opportunity to make a contribution of your own to further this understanding and ensure that remaining questions regarding our past are addressed.

The Leakey family is working with National Geographic to secure funding for a new, five-year Turkana Basin Research Initiative to address questions relevant to the emergence of our own genus Homo and the dispersal of our species out of Africa. This ambitious project will expand fieldwork beyond the three-month season to year-round operations, making use of the latest technology and analysis methods. Funds are sought for operating support to sustain research as well as for capital improvements to replace and upgrade labs and equipment. Substantial private support will be needed in order to realize their research goals at the famed Koobi Fora site.

100% of your contribution will go toward this initiative. Please consider helping this tremendously important work. The link below will take you to the Leakey page on the National Geographic website. After registering, choose "Koobi Fora Project - Leakey" from the drop-down menu on the Donation page.

Thank you for your support.
